What People Are Saying About The Tussey MOUnTaiNBACK

"Thanks for putting on a terrific ultra. Tussey Mountainback 50 Mile is as professional and personal an event as any runner could hope for. The web site, the pre-dinner, the aid stations, and the after party were all wonderful. The course is challenging, but mostly runnable. The scenery was beautiful with the leaves changing. Thanks again for a memorable event."

- Nathan Echols
2006 Men's Open Ultramarathon Champion - Sparta, NJ

"Thank you once again for a wonderful event. I can't say enough about the beauty of the course and the excellence of the volunteers. Having the relay going on at the same time and the crowd support as you go through the transition zones is the best part . . . all of which I remembered from last year and what made me want to come back this year and what will bring me back next year. Thanks!"

- Chris Reynolds
2006 Women's Open Ultramarathon Champion - Newfield, NY

"Congratulations to you for a wonderfully organized and fun race. The running was absolutely spectacular and I enjoyed every mile of your beautiful course. The support we got from relay runners and their crew was awesome! I'll see you next year."

- Sharon Holsinger
Indiana, PA

"Thanks for putting on a great event. We had a blast. Please communicate our thanks to all your associates."

- Gary Gudlin and Victory in Da Feet

"My husband and I ran the race as part of the "BBRC - Boalsburg/Bellefonte Running Club". We had a fabulous time, loved the course and can't wait to be part of the event next year. We have concluded, however, that we need to run more hills in Frederick, MD - where we currently live! Thanks so much for such a motivating and challenging day!"

- Christina and John McKeever
Frederick, MD

"The 8 man Dudes team and my 5 girl Chicks team all stayed Fri night at the Ramada. Then 8 of the 13 runners opted to stay Sat night as well and enjoy the PSU nightlife. We had such a great time that those who left are already planning on staying the extra night next year. Thanks!"

- Erin Boyle
New York, NY

"Great race. You guys put on a great event. See you next year."

- Lou Palumbo
Collegeville, PA

"Thank you and all your volunteers for putting on a fantastic ultramarathon. Though I thought I would be lonely with fewer than 50 ultramarthoners, the presence of the relay teams and the incredible volunteers and aid stations made me feel supported all the way. The course was incredibly beautiful, well marked and more challenging than I suspected. Finishing second in the women's race and winning some prize money were secondary to a great day in the mountains and a 50 mile PR. I hope to be back next year and I am encouraging my friends who run to get together for the relay. I know staging such an event is hard work, but it is certainly appreciated. All of your efforts were apparent in the seamless nature of the day. Thanks again! "

- Alisa Farrington
Mercersburg, PA

"Thanks for a great race. I can honestly say that there is not one facet of the race that I think you can improve. The volunteers, aid stations, course (and markings) were perfect. See you in 2007."

- Roger Claussen

I can't wait until next year, will plan to come for the whole weekend, definitely! Thank you for everything."

"Thanks to everyone for another exciting day at Tussey! The Ultra stations were well stocked and the people there very friendly and encouraging. Everyone giving directions or other assistance were helpful and courteous. Thanks for all the effort in organizing the race. I didn't do my usual time, had a power failure for an hour, but I got recharged and finished strong. Have to do better next year. My goal is to have fun and finish. Both were accomplished! Thanks to all involved!"

"I thought it was a great course, very challenging, very indicative of what a national championship should be.It's ideal for national championships. It's a great venue, fairly easily accessible from major airports. This is the perfect time of year to do it. It's beautiful. Very well put together."

- Chad Ricklefs, Boulder, CO
2004 Men's National Champiom

"It was a great course. Everybody was so friendly. This is a very hilly road course, the hardest road course I've run for a championship so far. The road surface, the soft part really saved me from all the pounding."

- Laura Nelson, 2004 Women's National Champion, Woodstock, VA

"An excellent Ultra. The course was challenging. The volunteers were friendly and very helpful. Every time I pulled into an aid station someone was right on me asking if I needed anything, offering to help fill my water bottle. The course markings were very good so I was able to stay on course, giving me one less thing to deal with throughout the day. Thanks for the effort. I appreciated it and enjoyed the day."

- Lou D'Angelo, Allison Park, PA

"I want to congratulate you on a great national championship. Jody (Reicher) has spoken highly of you and the race. However, I fell in love with your race even before she ran it, especially after seeing the topographical course profile. I feel that it always makes for a more exciting race when a course is topographically challenging. I hope to see you sometime soon.

- Dante Ciolfi, Fort Myers, FL

"A perfect race. This was the funnest year ever. I can't believe I'm a FOUR TIME FINISHER of the TMB50. Wish I would have heard about it the first year!"

- Patty Klaus, Cincinnati, OH

"This was the most fun running event I've ever done (and I've done around 100). You were all incredibly organized and the rest was a great success as a result. The supporting atmosphere among the runners made for a fun environment. I'm already planning on coming back and more prepared. Looking forward to next year."

- Tucker Newberry, Oakton, VA (2004)

"Great event you have there. Thanks again!"

- Greg Loomis, Arlington, VA

"Thanks again of behalf of the Oregon East Running Club. Fine job, great race and a memorable time, as always."

- Fredrick M. Glenwright, Muncy, PA

"A well-run event with fine volunteers, and a nice low-key awards ceremony/party complete with beer keg and food options for meat and veggie people, and a chance during the race to see a wide variety of ultra competition (all passing me by). I got passed regularly by runners (relay members) pretty much throughout the day. But to my surprise this was far from a negative experience, as the runners and their frequently hop-scotching-between-aid-stations crews/teams are very vocal in their support of the ultra runners, whom they regard as demented and worthy of awe, even really slow old guys like me. Those first three ROTC relay runners who passed my walking self as they ran pretty fast up some of the steeper hills really were entertaining to observe, and yet they were the ones insisting on giving compliments that all ended in "Sir!" as they passed. Relay runners' cowbell-ringing support crews/teammates occasionally passed in vans or cars. All had something nice to say. A really beautiful run in a remote area dotted with hunting cabins, rocky streams and some deceptively evil hills."

- Chris Smith, Chatham, VA

"Thanks for a wonderful event - seamless support and great terrain!"

- Jason Snyder, Pittsburgh, PA

"This was my first year at the race. I was especially impressed with the camaraderie shared by the runners. Regardless if you were on an 8-person team or doing the entire 50 mile run yourself, other runners were enthusiastically cheering you on. I found it an extremely warm and friendly environment. Overall, it was a wonderful way to enjoy the scenery while running the roads of Tussey Mountain."

- Dale Holen, Dunmore, PA
